High end foundations: MAC Studio Sculpt NC 42, I found that it was slightly too light for me so this is the foundation that I would wear if I decide to do a really heavy bronzing and contour look and I wouldn't usually highlight if i have this on.

If you are new to using and buying face foundation, my experience is, try going with a good brand – drugstore or high end. That is usually a good experience, encouraging you on your foundation journey and making you more confident of your purchase.

My 1^st foundation purchase (that went on to become right, thank God) was from Benefit at a Sephora store. Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow in shade Beige I'm the Rage. I would say it was meant to be great, simply because Benefit products are amazing and this one is a cult foundation for many MUAs. The sweet girl at Sephora definitely gets credit for matching the right shade for me.

My 1^st meaningful foundation purchase experience was from MAC (Studio Sculpt SPF15, shade NC42). Its perfect shade for me, its the right type (I have dry skin and this one is a gel foundation) and gives the finish I was looking for (it can be worn quite sheer for a day to day wear however can be build for more full coverage). My expectation from the nice lady who did my makeup at MAC was, 'I should be able to feel my skin and look airbrushed' and that is exactly what this particular one does for me.

I happily used these for 6 months before venturing out to buy more. I was SO MUCH more confident this time. My next purchases were L'Oreal Infallible and Revlon Colorstay for Normal/Dry skin (they have another one for oily skin). This time I took my time to explain my requirement and shade match. I am very happy with these now and these are my go to foundations now.

I have also made shade and tecture mistakes, that I regret whenever I see those, but like they say experience is the best teacher. I now have 15 different foundation and a few of these I have bought online as well. But that is a vast topic that I will cover in my next blog.
